The European Association of Innovation Consultants (EAIC) releases the third update of its flagship report: “NextGenerationEU Guide, for the industry to better understand and seize its opportunities”. The first two editions were published back in 2021 and 2022.

As a member of the EAIC, FI Group has collaborated once again on the elaboration of this report.

How do Member States allocate their NextGenerationEU funds?

The Guide explains how 24 European countries are spending almost 326 billion euros in grants under the National Recovery and Resilience Plans.

The current update highlights the final grant maximum contribution for each country. Most Member States noticed a decrease on the grant component of the Recovery Plans due to those June 2022 recalculations, based on actual GDP growth data.

The only countries with increased allocations are Czechia, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria and Portugal.

Main novelties on the 3rd update

  • The implementation of the Recovery and Resilience Plans are in full swing. Calls for proposals are being launched, projects are under evaluation and grant agreements are being signed.
  • Member States have started to work on revising the Plans, following the 30th June 2022 decision regarding the final grant allocation. In fact, some of the new plans are under public consultation. For instance, additional funds are being allocated in Lithuania for energy independency, renewable energy sources and cyber security.
  • The report also highlights the main calls for proposals currently active or foreseen, regarding digitalization, innovation, circular economy…
  • Some countries, like Finland, have already committed all the allocated funds under their National Recovery and Resilience Plans.
