Instruments identification

EU funding programs can sometimes be perceived as real mazes when trying to identify the most suitable actions and calls for proposals.

Our in-depth understanding and knowledge of each of the different programs is our strength.

Our Consultants can support you in navigating and identifying the programs, actions, and calls that are the most suited to your needs and to which you are eligible for funding.

Audits

To achieve this, an audit will be conducted to understand your RDI project as well as your internal strategy. Based on the collected data, a deliverable will be prepared, listing navigating all EU grants of potential interest as well as recommendations on what to improve/reorient/strengthen before any application.

This will give you the full overview of what you can or can’t do:

Proposals building

Once the programme, action and call for proposals have been identified, and that you feel ready to jump into the European adventure, our Consultants will support you to support developing the project concept.

Why do we need a proposal concept?

European collaborative projects are complex in essence and extremely competitive. Even if you have identified the right programme and call for proposals, it does not mean that you have all cards at hand to develop or submit a proposal that has high chances to be selected for funding.

To make sure you put all chances on your side, our Consultants will:

  • Help you understand the call text and expectations of the European Commission
  • Help you identify the project stakeholders and type of expertise needed to start building your optimal consortium
  • Support you in the definition of the project concept
  • Support you in defining the mission, objectives, and draft implementation plan structure of the project

Now that you have secured the core partners of your proposal and co-designed the main lines of your innovative concept, you are ready to develop your full proposal and finalize your consortium.

Project Management & Coordination Support

Strong expertise and experience are needed to turn excellent proposals into successful projects. The experts of the International Grants Department have both, solid knowledge of the EU collaborative project framework and intensive experience in the management and coordination of medium- and large-scale collaborations (FP6, FP7, H2020).

To efficiently accompany Project Coordinators and Consortia in the project implementation, towards the successful delivery of the expected results. Also, to help them following-up the proper execution of all tasks foreseen and secure the financial contribution from the Funding Authority, FI Group offers support at all levels:

  1. Coordination and monitoring of the project progress (including organisation and animation of meetings and major project events)
  2. Consortium management and internal communication
  3. Day-to-day Project Office support for the whole consortium
  4. Financial project monitoring
  5. Administrative and contractual grant management
  6. Coordination of exchanges with the Funding Authority

This steering and management time is often very important for a leader of a European collaborative project, especially for large consortia. This requires a good knowledge of the European Commission’s financial rules as well as solid experience in coordinating organisations with very varied profiles and expertise (public, private, SMEs, etc.) and multiculturalism.

Thanks to the expertise of FI Group; Project Coordinators and Consortia can focus on the actual R&D activities and scientific coordination of the project, reduce time and efforts required for the administrative, financial, and contractual management of the project. Also, can be sure that the expectations of the Funding Authority are met, rules respected, and funds secured.

Market Analysis Service

Exploitation as understood in the context of EU-funded projects is the part that deals with the use of the results for commercial purposes or in public policymaking, as described by the European Commission. It covers the identification of the results obtained during the action and their subsequent use in further research activities as well as developing, creating, and marketing a process or service. The exploitation concept also includes standardisation activities.

The exploitation of the results guarantees a return on investment of the funding provided by the Commission and states the value and impact of the subsidised activities, whether it be commercial, societal, political, or knowledge based. Without it, the knowledge would not be shared with other consortia or the community itself, with the risk of efforts being repeated in the future. Also, the investment effort is considered as a push to allow  new products, process and services to be commercialised, creating new job opportunities and strengthening the position and competitiveness of Europe in the global market.

Exploitation related activities are of increased importance under European programmes and related projects. In that regard, FI Group can support you either as a project partner or as a subcontractor to clearly identify during the project execution different types of exploitable results such as methods, knowledge, communities of interest, or technologies for instance. This includes identifying the role of each partner involved, how the results will impact him, and which value this will represent. We will help you and your project in identifying the impediments towards the exploitation, whether they concern Intellectual Property, competition, or certification, and to consider the appropriate measures to be applied.

To support informed decision-making and effective strategic planning, FI Group furthermore supports project consortia in the preparation of market analysis related to a particular sector. The systematic collection and analysis of data about goods and services market ecosystems will allow for predicting the commercial viability of the intended exploitation of the key project outputs.
